Our Brae Croft Breeding Groups 2026
Our breeding groups have been meticulously curated, bringing together exceptional quality stock from across the UK.
Hatching eggs, chicks, growers, and point of lay birds will be available throughout the season. All of the breeds listed below will be available alongside our hybrids and other birds that I hatch in small numbers (some of which are not listed here).
I also work with many other breeders to buy hatching eggs and birds, ensuring there is a continuous supply of new breeding lines within the breeding groups and available for my customers. I also like to mix things up occasionally by purchasing a few special eggs or birds to offer a little extra variety!
Chocolate Orpingtons
The Chocolate Orpington is known for its calm, friendly nature. If you are looking for a freindly, gentle giant then these are perfect for you! These large birds are hardy, easy to manage, and lay a good number of light brown eggs. While the chocolate colour is a modern variety, the Orpington itself is a traditional British breed recognised by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust as part of the UK’s native poultry heritage programme. Their unique colouring makes them a standout addition to any flock.
White Pekin Bantams
With their pure white plumage, round fluffy appearance, and heavily feathered feet, they are a real favourite of mine. Pekins are well known for their calm, friendly temperament, making them ideal for families, beginners, and smaller gardens. Despite their small size, they have big personalities and are often very tame. White Pekin Bantams are also reliable layers of small tinted eggs and can make excellent broody hens, perfect for naturally hatching chicks.
Bantam Gold and Blue Partridge Brahmas
The Bantam Brahma is a beautiful small version of the impressively massive Brahma chicken. These birds are hardy, friendly additions. I have Blue Brahma Bantams and Gold Partridge Brahma Bantams available. These are two separate colour varieties, each with their own unique and striking feather patterns. Both share the same wonderful Brahma characteristics — calm nature, attractive feathering, and a robust build.
Mixed Colour Seramas
Our mixed group of Seramas offers a delightful collection of colours of the world’s smallest true bantam chickens. These tiny birds are full of personality, incredibly friendly, and easy to handle, making them perfect for families, beginners, or anyone looking for a fun, interactive flock. Each bird is unique, with a variety of colours hatching. Despite their small size, they are relatively hardy, active, and inquisitive. Whether you’re starting a collection or just want some entertaining little companions, these mixed Seramas are sure to brighten your day!
Silkie Bantams
The Silkie Bantam is a distinctive small breed, easily recognised by its soft, fluffy plumage and feathered feet. They are calm, friendly, and easy to handle, making them a good choice for both beginners and families. Silkies are hardy birds, lay small, light-colored eggs, and often go broody, making them excellent mothers. Their unique appearance and gentle nature make them a cute and charming addition to any flock.
Call Ducks
Call Ducks are small, lively ducks known for their friendly and curious nature. Call Ducks are excellent foragers and are often kept for their charming personality and attractive appearance. Despite their small size, they are active and social. They also come in a variety of colours, adding variety to your duck collection.
We have a mixed breeding groups currently, white, magpie and mallard.
Shetland Geese
They are highly sociable birds that get along well with other poultry. Shetlands are excellent foragers, helping to keep grass and weeds under control, and they are reliable layers of white eggs.
This breed is listed by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) as a native UK breed of conservation concern, reflecting its rarity and historical importance. Shetland Geese are well adapted to harsh weather and mature quickly. Their compact size, gentle temperament, and attractive grey or pied plumage make them a popular choice for both hobby keepers and breeders looking to conserve traditional British breeds.
